Blog#3
On the left side of the screen there, you have the typical American kid, who lives his life just growing up, and living his daily life. Its very important because what caught my eye is that even though I grew up poor, my lifestyle was similar to that American boy's life. I think that most of all of us can relate as long as we went to public schools. On the right side you see an Asian kid, who is being exploited to work in a factory where he is "Forced" to make shoes because it is the only thing he knows. It's the only way he can eat, and only source for survival. He works in very harsh conditions, probably doesn't get paid and is receiving no education. His life is going no where as his daily routine is the same each and every single day. The shoes that he creates everyday is worn by the American boy on the left. The video is very depressing to me because kids are our future, and I can't believe how horrible that Asian kid must feel. I have relatives who live in a Third world country full of poverty too. I have visited them and breathed their world for a whole month. So the lifestyle that I have here today, I believe that we take for granted and don't really realize how much some other kid or person out there would trade places in our shoes.

Yeah, that video was very sad. i think that the American boy was so lucky to have his life like the way he had right now. And i was surprise too that his daily life is just like us! I feel very bad and so sad for the Asian boy.
ReplyDeleteI think we really do take this life for granted. I think that just like the boy making the shoes it’s just the only life we know. If we want a real understand of the world we need to explore different ways of life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Roger, that we can easily take the comforts of our lives for granted. I think that your perspective is very interesting, having visited family in an impoverished setting. I think that it's a problem that can overwhelm any one person, but, if many people work in their own ways to improve the world, we can make a difference. This is what I have discovered, and is what I have to believe, since I can't solve the world's problems on my own. Thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you roger...people dont realize how good they actually have it until its actually pointed out to them...and as americans we tend to be spoiled beause it is what we are used to...I was actually right in between when it comes to the two lives shown here...I never had it good...cause my mom was never around and I grew up in a really dark house of violence...but I always manage to survive...:)And your right kids are the future and they should always be taken care of and they should be able to have the chance to shine...You have really great input when comes to examing things closley...keep up the great work!
