The multiple messages are that Obesity is disgusting looking and that it is not accepted in our society. Fat barbie dolls and fat super heroes are not very attractive or very heroic like. It is almost used to let children know that the ideal body type for kids is thin and skinny. It could also be a message that kids need to be active and stay fit, eat healthy so that they won't have to suffer the consequences of looking fat in our society. I mean these kids are only about ten to eleven years old, and I believe that those images really contribute to pressure the children to be thin. That could be the start of a unhealthy diet or pressure them to dislike people that are fat and obese in general. It's not right, especially because everyone has different body types because it could really hurt people that are larger than others. It could hurt them emotionally and physically and will probably lead to depressed children at younger ages.

  1. Children are being told to be thin. I think what they really need to be told is to be healthy. Kids should work at being a healthy weight if they should even be worrying about it at all.

  2. Yeah I totally agree with you roger...the fact that they are targeting innocent childeren really shows how they are trying to twist around thier thoughts of there own self image...we don't want to damage these kids anymore that they are but we wnat to send them better messages to be fit and healthy but most kids don't even know what healthy is until they reach high school even then I still didn't know what it meant to be healthy. The parents need to be targeted if anything that's where the root of it is well at least with the start...possibly judging people based on their looks as well its a bad thing to be teaching these kids at such a young age..this will cause problems with how they will grow up...great response!

  3. Yep. I agree too, wit what you say, Roger. There are different body types and skinny isn't necessarily healthy for all. I agree with Johnny's statement that the message should just be on "healthy" not skinny. Good food choices and all that. Thanks,

  4. I do agree with you. People always said too fat is not good or became fat will look ugly. Too much accusation will things became worse. Now many people are sick to be fat, and crazy about to become thin. Things always have tow sides; it’s not good to go to the extreme of both sides. I agree with you about that you said every body has his or her own shape. In some points, we can’t not control the body shapes those are coming from our parents. Those thoughts about “fat is not good” or “be fat is ugly” are easy to be bad affects for the children who are not old enough to judge what is good or bad for them.
